As "Stomp the Grapes" 1/2 Marathon has continued to grow over the past three years, we realized that at some point we would have to restrict the size of the event or consider moving the event to a larger venue. We wanted to keep the uniqueness of the event and the Ohio Winery setting. Thanks to Bill & Michelle Bakan of the Maize Valley Winery this has been made possible!
The 2009 "Stomp the Grapes" 1/2 Marathon will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Maize Valley Winery in Hartville, Ohio. The Wines Vines, & Pines 5K that was held at the winery on this date in 2008 will move to July 11th. Thus, two events at Maize Valley in 2009.
This is one week after the Akron Marathon and will allow relay teams from Akron plus it will be 2 weeks before the Columbus Marathon and be a great final 'tune up" for Columbus. All records from the original course will transfer to the new course & course records will be eligible to be broken in 2009. We are keeping our records, just a new venue. Once the course is finalized and the course certified, we will post a corse map.
Thanks to all who have participated in the past and hopefully will participte in the future. Thanks to Perennial Vineyards for the great first three years of the event!
